This quote delivers a very valid statement and point! If we ponder this quote and it’s intended message, we find ourselves diving into self image vs social image. Unlike the classic “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, this statement reminds us that we only see what people want us to see.
Whether you’re good at showing people who you really are or not, people are watching you all over social media – as that has become a virtual extension of ourselves, between messenger, facebook, instagram, business websites and the like, we represent who we are and what we are about online.
Social media is completely different for business professionals than it is for the average 25-40 year old using the platforms for personal purposes. You are what you post, and you’re representing yourself every time you do.
I challenge you to take a look at your posts differently, do they represent all that you want them to? Are you just doing things for likes or do you care what messages you are sending? Privately and professionally.
